The Padres are reportedly pursuing Barry Bonds. We lose Bruce Bochy and then might gain Barry Bonds? What a strange off season.
I hope this isn't true, or at least doesn't happen (his price tage must be massive). I'm not sure if I can learn how to root for him.

You don't know if you can learn how to root for him? If the Pads sign Bonds I will never buy another Padres ticket the rest of my life and I will never cheer for them as long as the current ownership and management is in place. That is an unforgivable sin.
Well, I'm not going to say I will never buy a ticket the rest of my life. Anyhow, I doubt it will happen, given the money. We could probably fill several holes with good free agents for the cost of Bonds.
